A function \(H(x)\) harmonic in a neighborhood of \(0\in R^ n\) admits an expansion in spherical harmonics, absolutely and uniformly convergent on compact subsets of a ball \(\{| x| <R\}\). Here, in the usual multi-variable notations, \(R^{-1}=\limsup_{m\to \infty}(| \nabla_ mH(0)| /m!)^{1/m}\) and \(\nabla_ mH(0)^ 2=(m!/2^ m)\sum_{| \alpha | =m}(D^{\alpha}H(0))^ 2/\alpha!\). The authors obtain explicit expressions for the growth order and growth type of H in the ball \(\{| x| <R\}\) in terms of the mth gradients \(\nabla_ mH(0)\) for large m. The definitions and results are quite analogous to the classical formulas for holomorphic functions of one complex variable.
