This is a very interesting paper. Let \(X\cong\text{SL}_2(p^a)\) and \(K=\text{GF}(p^a)\). Then let \(F\) be the set of modules \(V_n\), where \(V_n\) is the set of homogeneous polynomials of degree \(n\) in \(K[x,y]\), and \(X\) acts on \(K[x,y]\) in the obvious way. All these modules are irreducible. Let \(\langle\sigma\rangle\) be the Galois group of \(K\). Then an arbitrary irreducible module \(V\) is given by a tensor product \(W_0\otimes W^\sigma_1\otimes\cdots\otimes W^{\sigma^{a-1}}_{a-1}\) for \(W_i\in F\). Now let \(S\) by a Sylow \(p\)-subgroup of \(X\). Then the author determines \([V,S;i]\) for all \(i\). Let \(m=\sum^{a-1}_{i=0}\dim W_i-1\), then set \(C_k=[V,S;m-k]\) for \(0\leq k\leq m\). Using some notation of weight the \(C_k\) can be described. Further \(d_j=\dim W_j\) and set \(P(n)=1+z+\cdots+z^n\in\mathbb{Z}[z]\). Set \(P(V)=\sum^{a-1}_{j=0}P(d_j-1)\). Then \(\dim C_K/C_{K-1}\) is the coefficient of \(z^k\) in \(P(V)\).
