Let \(X,Y\) be Banach spaces, \(T:X\Rightarrow Y\) a set-valued mapping and assume that a variational inclusion \(0 \in T(x), x\in X\) has a solution \(\overline{x}\). The author presents an iterative process which (locally) converges linearly to \(\overline{x}\), modifying especially the convergence conditions of a similar process given by \textit{F. J. Aragón Artacho} et al. [ESAIM, Proc. 17, 1--8 (2007; Zbl 1235.90180)]. In Aragón's algorithm \(T\) must fulfil a metric regularity condition. Here the author takes ideas of a previous paper [\textit{M. Gaydu} and \textit{M. H. Geoffroy}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 399, No. 1, 213--224 (2013; Zbl 1280.65046)] on Newton iteration for set-valuable differentiable mappings and of Pang's definition of strictly \(H\)-differentiability for set-valued mappings. Then, stating a metric regularity condition only for \(H\) instead of \(T\), he can prove the desired convergence, where \(T\) is strictly \(H\)-differentiable at \(\overline{x}\), \(H\) is a positively homogeneous mapping with finite outer norm and closed graph. Thereby he applies successively a set-valued generalization of the Banach fixed point theorem (given by \textit{A. L. Dontchev} and \textit{W. W. Hager} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 121, No. 2, 481--489 (1994; Zbl 0804.49021)]). In an important remark it is shown that \(H\)-differentiability for a set-valued mapping \(F\) does not imply metric regularity properties for \(F\). Finally, using Painlevé-Kuratowski set convergence, perturbations of the stated iteration process are discussed.
