In this paper, Hamiltonian elliptic systems with power-type nonlinearities with subcritical growth are considered. In the first part of the paper, the `direct approaches' are overviewed while the functional has no mountain pass geometry. Using the dual method and Lyapunov-Schmidt type reduction, the authors get rid of this difficulty. In the second part of the paper, they show that the dual method is used to prove sign and symmetry results; the reduction by inversion is used to prove sign, symmetry and multiplicity results, while the Lyapunov-Schmidt type reduction is useful in proving concentration and multiplicity results. It is an interesting paper, which is worth reading.
