The Mariño-Vafa conjecture [\textit{M.~Mariño} and \textit{C.~Vafa}, Contemp. Math. 310, 185--204 (2002; Zbl 1042.81071)] is an important example of a mathematical incarnation of string duality. It relates topological string theory and Chern-Simons theory, and it predicts an amazing connection between Gromov-Witten theory and link invariants. In this short note the author proves the Mariño-Vafa Conjecture that identifies certain open string invariants of the resolved conifold with the Chern-Simons knot invariant of the unknot, i.e. the quantum dimensions.
