Let \(\mathcal H\) be the Hecke algebra over the ring \(\mathbb{Z}[q^{1/2},q^{- 1/2}]\) of the Coxeter group \((W,S)\) and \(J\) be a subset of \(S\). Clearly, \(-1\) and \(q\) are the two roots of \(u^ 2=q+(q-1)u\). Let \(M^ J\) and \(\tilde M^ J\) be the two \(\mathcal H\)-modules corresponding to \(-1\) and \(q\) respectively. Related to \(M^ J\) and \(\tilde M^ J\), the Kazhdan- Lusztig polynomials are denoted by \(P^ J_{x,y}\) and \(\tilde P^ J_{x,y}\) respectively. It is proved that \(M^ J\) and \(\tilde M^ J\) can be connected by a natural duality, moreover, \(P^ J_{x,y}\) and \(\tilde P^ J_{x,y}\) are given in a specific example which shows that the situation for the case \(J\neq \emptyset\) can be very different from that in the case \(J=\emptyset\). The ideas of this paper are developments of an earlier one [J. Algebra 111, No. 2, 483-506 (1987; Zbl 0656.22007)].
