The monodromy of a locally constant sheaf on a space \(X\) with values in a category \(\mathcal{C}\) is a functor from the fundamental groupoid \(\Pi_1(X)\) of \(X\) to \(\mathcal{C}\). Generalising this to \(\mathcal{C}\) being a (weak) 2-category and \(\Pi_2(X)\) being the Hardie-Kamps-Kieboom homotopy bigroupoid, the authors show how to relate a 2-monodromy 2-functor to a locally constant 2-stack on \(X\) with values in \(\mathcal{C}\). They give some explicit calculations for classifying gerbes with locally constant bands.
