The paper under review presents a unified approach to induction theorems for finite group representations. Examples of these are the induction theorems by Conlon and Dress. One of the main results is as follows: Let \(G\) be a finite group, let \(F\) be an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(p>0\), and let \(M\) be an indecomposable \(FG\)-module with vertex \(P\) and \(P\)-source \(L\). Then, in the Green ring of \(G\), \(M\) can be written as an integral linear combination of modules \(\text{Ind}^G_H(U)\) where (i) \(H\) is a subgroup of \(G\) with normal Sylow \(p\)-subgroup \(Q\) contained in \(P\) such that \(H/Q\) is elementary, and (ii) \(U\) is an indecomposable \(FH\)-module with vertex \(Q\) such that \(\text{Res}^H_Q(U)\) is an indecomposable direct summand of \(\text{Res}^P_Q(L)\).
