The paper is devoted to induced representations of groups viewed in a very general context. The author widely uses the language of categories, as in his earlier paper [Invent. Math. 11, 73-98 (1970; Zbl 0199.349)]. This setting includes linear, orthogonal, and projective representations. In particular, it leads to projective analogues of some results of \textit{A. Fröhlich} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 360, 84-123 (1985; Zbl 0556.12005)] concerning induced orthogonal representations of Galois groups.
