From authors' summary: The two-dimensional flow of viscous fluid over an etched hole is computed with a boundary element method. Only the regular part of the solution is computed with boundary element method by using a singularity substraction method, while the singular part of the solution -- due to the sharp corners -- is then added. But there are regions in which these regular and singular parts are of almost equal magnitude, being different in sign. To avoid the substraction and addition of large quantities where quantities of smaller order are computed, we introduce a domain decomposition technique which increases the accuracy. A new integral formulation is derived for the stream function in the form of a boundary integral over velocity and shear-stress components. Some results for arbitrary etched holes are also given.
