The author constructs a locally convex completion \(H\) of a finitely-generated \(\mathbb{Z}\)-graded vertex algebra \((V,Y, \mathbf{}1)\) satisfying the standard grading-restriction axioms. The completion \(H\) is the strict inductive limit of a sequence of complete locally convex spaces constructed from the correlation functions of the generators. The space \(H\) is linearly isomorphic to the subspace of the topological completion \(\overline{V}\) that contains \(V\) and the image of \(Y(r_1^{L(0)}, z)r_2^{L(0)}\). Similar results on modules are obtained.
