    The paper deals with multiplicity results for the problem \(-\Delta u + \lambda u = u^ p\) in \(\Omega\), \(u = 0\) on \(\partial \Omega\), where \(1 < p < (N+2)/(N-2)\), \(N \geq 3\), \(\lambda > 0\), in an unbounded domain \(\Omega\) of the form \(\Omega = \mathbb{R}^ N\backslash\bigcup^ k_{i = 1} \overline{\omega}_ i\), where \(\omega_ i\) are bounded smooth domains of \(\mathbb{R}^ N\) such that \(\overline{\omega}_ i \cap \overline{\omega}_ j = \emptyset\) \((i \neq j)\) and \(\omega_ i \subset \overline{B}(x_ i; \varepsilon_ i)\), \(i = 1,\dots,k\). For \(k = 2\), the main result is the following theorem: There exist real numbers \(\delta_ 1,\delta_ 2 = \delta_ 2(\varepsilon_ 1)\) and a real number \(\rho\) such that for \(\varepsilon_ 1 < \delta_ 1\), \(\varepsilon_ 2 < \delta_ 2\) and \(| x_ 2 - x_ 1| > \rho\), there are at least two positive solutions in \(\Omega\). The critical case \(p = (N+2)/(N-2)\) and \(\Omega\) bounded is also considered.
