H. Blumberg proved that for any map f:\(X\to Y\), between Euclidean spaces there is a set \(D\subset X\), dense in X, such that the restriction \(f| D\) is continuous. The first part of the paper is a survey which presents the history of four variants of Blumberg's theorem, where the resulting restriction is either continuous or else pointwise discontinuous. The following variants of Blumberg's theorem are considered; for every map f:\(X\to Y\) there exists a set (a) \(D\subset X\), D dense in X, such that \(f| D\) is continuous, (b) \(W\subset X\), W \(\alpha\)-dense in X, such that \(f| W\) is pointwise discontinuous, (c) \(D\subset X\), D \(\omega\)-dense in D, such that \(f| D\) is continuous, (d) \(W\subset X\), W \(\alpha\)-dense in W, such that \(f| W\) is pointwise discontinuous. In the second part the author presents without proofs his own new results. The last of them says that if X and Y are uncountable separable metric spaces and f:\(X\to Y\) is 1-1, then there exists \(D\subset X\), D dense in D, such that \(f| D\) is a homeomorphism.
