This paper investigates a modified SIS model on scale-free networks as well as their limiting systems. After giving a detailed derivation of the first-order differential systems, the authors discuss the asymptotic stability of the disease-free equilibria. Convenient Liapunov functions are used. The paper ends with some numerical simulations to explain the importance and effect of parameters on the spread of epidemics.
