This paper is concerned with the reaction-diffusion system with absorption terms \[ u_t-d_1\Delta u=u(a_1-b_1 u^r+v^p), \quad v_t-d_2\Delta v=v(a_2+u^q- b_2v^s) \] (supplemented with the Dirichlet boundary conditions) modeling the cooperative interaction of two diffusion biological species. Using the standard comparison principle for parabolic equations, the authors obtain optimal conditions on the exponent of reaction and absorption terms for the existence or nonexistence of global solutions. Moreover, for a special case, they derive lower bounds on the blow-up rate.
