The sixth Painlevé equation \(P_{VI}\) is a second-order differential equation with complex variables and depends on four complex parameters \(a\), \(b\), \(c\), \(d\). The authors seek solutions of \(P_{VI}\) in the form \[ y(x)= c_r x^r+ \sum_s c_s x^s \] as \(x\to 0\) or \(x\to\infty\), where the exponents \(r\) and \(s\) are complex numbers. There are three different types of expansions: (i) \(c_r\) and \(c_s\) are constant complex coefficients. (ii) \(c_s\) are polynomials in \(\ln x\). (iii) \(c_s\) and \(c_s\) are power series in \(\ln x\). By means of the methods of power geometry and the symmetry, the authors find in case \(a=0\) 6 new expansions that are different from the expansions for \(a\neq 0\). 4 of the new expansions belong to type (ii), two to type (iii). New expansions are derived also in the case \(b= 0\).
