Duals of subhypergroups and quotients of commutative hypergroups (Q1204270)

We investigate the relationship between hypergroup homomorphisms and normal subhypergroups. Furthermore, we determine the dual spaces of open subhypergroups and of quotients \(K/H\), \(H\) being a compact subhypergroup of a commutative hypergroup \(K\). These results are applied to derive criteria for Pontryagin hypergroups. We present examples of commutative hypergroups for which some of the results which are well known for locally compact abelian groups do not hold.
