Consider a smooth flow \(\varphi\) on a manifold \(M\) and suppose that the \(\omega\)-limit set of a \(p\in M\) and the \(\alpha\)-limit set of some other point \(q\in M\) satisfy \(\omega(p)\cap\alpha(q)\neq\emptyset\). The author studies the question whether there exists a flow that \(C^ 1\)- approximates \(\varphi\) for which \(p\), \(q\) lie on the same orbit (so called \(C^ 1\) Connecting Lemma). He gives an example which shows that \(C^ 1\) Connecting Lemma is false. He also disproves the \(C^ 1\) prolongational Closing Lemma for noncompact nonplanar surfaces.
