In this paper, the authors investigate potential exotic 4-spheres, the research of which has been revitalized by the work of \textit{M. H. Freedman} et al., [Quantum Topol. 1, No. 2, 171--208 (2010; Zbl 1236.57043)]. One underlying construction for producing examples of potential exotic 4-spheres is the Gluck twist along a 2-knot (i.e. an embedded 2-sphere) in the standard 4-sphere. Here, the authors consider a 2-knot \(K_{pq}^2\), which is given by the 1-knot \(K(p,q)\) with two ribbon bands, as depicted in Figure 1 in the paper. The main result is that the Gluck twist along the 2-knot \(K_{pq}^2\) provides the 4-sphere with its standard smooth structure. The proof is given by a Kirby calculus argument.
