A positive and measurable function \(f\) is regularly varying with real index \( \alpha \) if it satisfies (1) \(f(tx)/f(t)\rightarrow x^{\alpha }\), as \( t\rightarrow \infty \), for all \(x>0\). It is well-known that (1) holds locally uniformly in \(x>0\). In the paper the authors consider functions \(f\) for which (2) \(f(tx)/f(t)\) is bounded as \(t\rightarrow \infty \), for \(x\in S\). The authors find minimal conditions on \(f\) and \(S\) such that (2) holds locally uniformly in \(x>0\).
