Let \(S^{n-1}\) be the unit sphere in the \(n\) dimensional Euclidean space \(\mathbb{R}^n\). Suppose \(0<\alpha<n\), and let \(\Omega\in L^r(S^{n-1})\) with \(r\geq 1\) be homogeneous of degree zero on \(\mathbb{R}^n\). The authors treat the commutator \(T_{\Omega,\alpha}^{b,m}\) of a homogeneous fractional integral operator and a BMO function \(b\), defined by \[ T_{\Omega, \alpha}^{b,m}(f)(x) =\int_{\mathbb{R}^n}\frac{\Omega(x-y)}{|x-y|^{n-\alpha}}[b(x)-b(y)]^m f(y) dy\quad(m\in \mathbb{N}). \] They define \(H_{b^m}^p\) as follows: for \(0<p\leq 1\) a function \(a(x)\) is said to be a \((p,\infty;b^m)\)-atom if (1) \(\roman{supp} a\subset B(x_0,d)=\{x:|x-x_0|\leq d\}\); (2) \(\|a\|_\infty\leq |B(x_0,d)|^{-1/p}\); (3) \(\int a(x) dx=\int a(x)b(x) dx=\cdots=\int a(x)b^m(x) dx=0\). And a tempered distribution \(f\) is said to belong to the atomic Hardy space \(H_{b^m}^p(\mathbb{R}^n)\), if it can be written as \(f=\sum_{j=1}^{\infty}\lambda_ja_j\), where \(a_j\)'s are \((p,\infty;b^m)\)-atoms, \(\lambda_j\in \mathbb C\) and \(\sum_{j=1}^{\infty}|\lambda_j|<\infty\). (In the case \(m=1\), these are introduced by \textit{J. Alvarez} [``Continuity properties for linear commutators of Calderón-Zygmund opertors'', Collect. Math. 49, 17-31 (1998; Zbl 0926.42013)]). The authors show the following : Let \(0<\alpha<n\), \(1/q=1/p-\alpha/n\), and suppose \(\Omega\in L^r(S^{n-1})\) with \(r>n/(n-\alpha)\). Suppose \(\int_{0}^{1}\omega_r(\delta)\delta^{-1}(\log 1/\delta)^m d\delta<\infty\). Then \(T_{\Omega, \alpha}^{b,m}\) maps \(H_{b^m}^1(\mathbb{R}^n)\) continuously into \(L^q(\mathbb{R}^n)\). Here, \(\omega_r(\delta)\) is the integral modulus of continuity of order \(r\) of \(\Omega\). They also investigate, under the condition \(0<\alpha<1\), \((H_{b^m}^p, L^q)\) continuity of \(T_{\Omega, \alpha}^{b,m}\). They treat the Herz-type Hardy space case, too. This paper is a continuation of their previous work [\textit{Y. Ding} and \textit{S. Lu}, ``Homogeneous fractional integrals on Hardy spaces'', Tôhoku Math. J., II. Ser. 52, 153-162 (2000; Zbl 0959.42011)](the case \(m=0\)).
