Nonlinear oscillations of systems with hysteresis (Q799399)

The author finds conditions for \(x(t)=x^*\sin (\nu t-\theta)\) to be an approximate solution of the oscillation equation with hysteresis \(\ddot x+kx\pm b(x^{*2}-x^ 2)=f_ 0\sin \nu t,\) with the plus-sign of \(\dot x>0\), and the minus-sign if \(\dot x<0\). The results are interpreted using energy balance.
