The authors obtain some interesting results for weak regular splittings of a singular irreducible \(M\)-matrix. The index of the spectral radius of the iteration matrix \(M^{-1} N\) when the splitting \(A = M - N\) is assumed to be upper triangular weak regular is investigated. Using this result, the main results obtained by \textit{H. Schneider} [ibid. 58, 407-424 (1984; Zbl 0561.65020)] are improved also.
