The authors consider a two-phase free boundary problem for the isothermal Navier-Stokes system in a general three-dimensional bounded domain without regard to phase transitions, external forces and boundary contacts. The local well-posedness is proved for arbitrary three-dimensional bounded domains in an \(L^p\) setting, which induces a local semiflow on a well-defined nonlinear state manifold. In the case of connected phases, the authors show that the set of equilibrium of the system forms \((n+1)\)-dimensional manifold, in which each equilibrium is stable and any solution starting in a neighborhood of such a steady state exists globally and converges to another equilibrium as time goes to infinity.
