The paper deals with the ground states of the equation \[ \Delta u- k(x) u+ u^{p- \varepsilon}= 0,\quad u> 0\quad \text{in } \mathbb{R}^n, \] where \(n\geq 3\), \(p\) is the critical Sobolev exponent. It is known that any sequence of ground states \(u_{\varepsilon_j}\) contains a subsequence which blows up and concentrates at a single point as \(\varepsilon_j\to 0\) under certain conditions on \(k(x)\) and the ground states. The contribution of the author is that he proves that this point of blow-up is a global minimum point of \(k(x)\) in the case \(n> 6\). To prove this conclusion for \(3\leq n\leq 6\) is still an open problem.
