    \textit{W. Ichinose} [Osaka J. Math. 21, 565-581 (1984; Zbl 0572.35021)] has given a necessary condition for \(H^{\infty}\)-wellposedness of the Cauchy problem \(Pu(x,t)=f(x,t)\) in \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\times [-T,T],\quad u(x,0)=u_ 0(x)\) for operators \[ P=i\partial_ t+\tau \Delta +\sum^{n}_{j=1}b_ j(x)\partial_{x_ j}+c(x),\quad 0\leq \tau <1,\quad b_ j,c\in B^{\infty}({\mathbb{R}}^ n). \] In this paper, using asymptotic solutions, the author proves an analogous result for higher order operators which have the form \[ P(x,t,D_ x,D_ t)=D^ m_ t+a_ 1(x,t,D_ x)D_ t^{m-1}+...+a_ m(x,t,D_ x), \] where \(a_ j(x,t,D_ x)=\sum_{| \alpha | \leq 2j}a_{\alpha j}(x,t)D_ x^{\alpha}\), \(a_{\alpha j}\in B^{\infty}({\mathbb{R}}^ n\times {\mathbb{R}}^ 1)\), \(a_{\alpha j}=\) constant for \(| \alpha | =2j\), \(1\leq j\leq m\), and the roots of \(\tau^ m+\sum^{m}_{j=1}\sum_{| \alpha | =2j}a_{\alpha j}\xi^{\alpha}\tau^{m-j}=0\) are real and distinct for \(\xi \in {\mathbb{R}}^ n\setminus \{0\}\).
