Representations of distributive semilattices in ideal lattices of various algebraic structures. (Q5932597)

In the paper relationships among existing results about representations of distributive semilattices by ideals in dimension groups, von Neumann regular rings, \(C^*\)-algebras, and complemented modular lattices are studied. All these contexts are interconnected and developed sufficiently to allow representation theorems for distributive semilattices in one context to be transferred to other contexts. Several open problems concerning representability are discussed, some of them being solved in forthcoming papers of the second author.
