The authors study the geometric structures underlying the triplectic quantization of gauge theories. The geometric setting is a \(( 2N+2k\mid 4N-2k)\)-dimensional supermanifold \(\mathcal{M}\) equipped with two graded supersymmetric Poisson brackets \(( \cdot ,\cdot ) ^{i}:C_{\mathcal{M}}\times C_{\mathcal{M}}\rightarrow C_{\mathcal{M}},\) where \(C_{\mathcal{M}}\) is the algebra of smooth functions on \(\mathcal{M}.\) These brackets are supposed to satisfy the graded versions of the symmetry property, the Leibniz rule and the Jacobi identity. If, in addition the pair of brackets satisfies some compatibility and nondegeneracy conditions and are also compatible with a nondegenerate 2-form of rank \(4N\), \(\Psi =d\mathcal{F}\), then \(\mathcal{M}\) is said to be a triplectic manifold. The authors focus on the local structure of a triplectic manifold and show that it admits locally a foliation with base space \(\mathcal{N}\) which is a Kähler manifold endowed with two transversal polarizations. The question of whether the antibrackets can be brought to the canonical form is solved in terms of the ability of \(\mathcal{N}\) to admit a flat symmetric connection compatible with both the complex structure and the polarizations.
