The authors develop a theory for unbounded composition operators on abstract \(L^2\)-spaces. Characterizations of normal and quasinormal composition operators are provided. The authors also study products of these operators, give conditions for their injectivity, derive the polar decomposition, and describe those \(C_\phi\) that generate Stieltjes moment sequences.
