The paper derives an approximate constitutive equation for a non- Newtonian fluid containing finitely extensible nonlinear elastic dumbbells. The model has a distinctness of its own and provides for the anisotropy of the hydrodynamic force and the Brownian motion. Dilute solution model is recoverable when two of the four parameters in the model are each equated to unity. Change of parameters can take account of progressively more concentrated solutions with increasing nonisotropy of the hydrodynamic and Brownian forces.
