Let \(E\) be a Banach space and let \(D\subset E\) be a star-shaped set, i.e., a set for which there exists \(a\in D\) such that \(ta+(1-t)x\in D\) for every \(x\in D\) and \(t\in[0,1]\). Two important main results are proved in the paper. First, that most nonexpansive compact-valued maps from a star-shaped, closed and bounded subset of a Banach space into itself have fixed points (Theorem 2.1) and second, that the fixed point set of a compact- and convex-valued nonexpansive map is an \(R_\delta\)-set (Theorem 3.1).
