The authors consider pseudo-differential boundary problems, assuming that the system depends on a parameter that belongs to a noncompact set. The purpose of this paper is to extend the parameter dependent calculus to the \(L^ p\) setting, \(1 < p < \infty\), and to a class of unbounded manifolds that include the complement of smooth compact sets in \(\mathbb{R}^ n\) and \(\overline R^ n_ +\). The authors introduce appropriate versions of the Bessel-potential space and Besov space depending on a parameter \(\mu \in \overline R_ +\) and establish properties of interpolation, duality, imbedding and trace theorems for these spaces. For instance, the parameter dependent version of the Bessel-potential space \(H^{s, \mu}_ p (\mathbb{R}^ n)\) is as follows, \[ f \in H_ p^{s, \mu} (\mathbb{R}^ n) \quad \text{iff} \quad \int \bigl( 1 + | \xi |^ 2 + | \mu |^ 2 \bigr)^{ps/2} \bigl | \widehat f(\xi) \bigr |^ p d \xi < \infty \] for each \(\mu \in \overline {\mathbb{R}}^ n_ +\). Next, they introduce a class of pseudo-differential operators with symbols of order \(d\) and type (1,0) depending smoothly on a parameter \(\mu\). The factor \((1 + | \xi |^ 2 + | \mu |^ 2)^{1/2}\) appears in a nontrivial way in the estimates of the derivatives of the symbol. The authors establish among other results, the continuity of these operators on the parameter dependent versions of the Bessel and Besov spaces.
