Let the ring \(R\) be a fibre product of \(R_1\) and \(R_2\) over \(R'\). \textit{E. Kirkman} and \textit{J. Kuzmanovich} [J. Algebra 109, 74-92 (1987; Zbl 0621.16029)]\ showed that bounds on the left global dimension of \(R\) are concerned with the left-hand side of the rings \(R_i\) and with the right-hand side of the \(R\)-modules \(R_i\), \(i=1,2\). The author provides a ``one-sided'' analogue of this, and other, results. The benefits in doing so are presented.
