The author presents an isotope of the usual version of the Kac 10-dimensional Jordan superalgebra \(K_{10}\) over a general ring of scalars \(\Phi\). This turns out to be isomorphic to the original superalgebra when \(i, {1\over{\sqrt{2}}}\in\Phi\) but not in characteristic \(2\). A quaternionic model of the bimodule structure is presented. Furthermore, an exterior model \(\Lambda^2(M)\oplus M\) is given for both the bimodule structure and the odd product. In this, \(M\) is a free \(\Phi\)-module of rank \(4\) whence \(\Lambda^2(M)\) is free of rank \(6\). The work under review is in fact a survey on \(K_{10}\) and its different presentations. Since this general version of \(K_{10}\) must be given in the context of quadratic Jordan (unital) superalgebras, much of the author's effort is devoted to describing the quadratic products. The work also contains detailed descriptions and comparisons with previous presentations of the original superalgebra by other authors. A description of the inner (super)derivation Lie superalgebra of this general version of \(K_{10}\) is given in the final sections of the paper. The author announces also a forthcoming work on the structure of the Grassmann envelope of \(K_{10}\).
