Consider the nonlinear difference equation with variable delay \[ x(n+1)-x(n)=F\bigl(n,g(n)\bigr),\quad n\in\{0,1,2,\dots\}=\mathbb{N},\tag{*} \] where \(F(n,.):\mathbb{R} \to\mathbb{R}\) is continuous with \(F(n,0)\equiv 0\) for \(n\in\mathbb{N}\) and \(g:\mathbb{N}\to \mathbb{Z}\) is nondecreasing with \(g(n)\leq n\) and \(\lim_{n\to\infty}g(n)=\infty\). Under some additional assumptions, too complicate to be presented here every solution to (*) tends to zero.
