The trapezoidal conjecture, which predicts a certain relationship between coefficients of the Alexander polynomial of a non-split alternating link [\textit{R. H. Fox}, ``Some problems in knot theory'', in Topology of 3-manifolds and related topics. Proceedings of the University of Georgia Institute 1961. Englewood Cliffs, N.J.: Prentice-Hall, 168--176 (1962; Zbl 0132.20102)] was proven for genus 2 knots by Oszvath and Szabo using Heegaard Floer homology [\textit{P. Ozváth} and \textit{Z. Szabó}, Geom. Topol. 7, 225--254 (2003; Zbl 1130.57303)]. Jong reproves this result combinatorially, using \textit{A. Stoimenow}'s generators for knots of canonical genus two [Fundam. Math. 200, No. 1, 1--67 (2008; Zbl 1190.57008)].
