Local Moufang sets and local Jordan pairs (Q2401615)

Local Moufang sets, as defined by the authors in [J. Group Theory 19, No. 5, 815--847 (2016; Zbl 1356.20017)], generalize Moufang sets (by introducing an equivalence relation and by requiring that the root groups are sharply transitive on complements of equivalence classes). Examples are provided by the groups \(\mathrm{PSL}_R\) over local rings \(R\). In the paper under review, the authors construct a local Moufang set from every local Jordan pair (in the sense of \textit{O. Loos} [Jordan pairs. Berlin-Heidelberg-New York: Springer-Verlag (1975; Zbl 0301.17003)]). Conversely, they construct a local Jordan pair from every local Moufang set satisfying some mild restrictions. Up to isomorphisms, these two constructions are inverse to each other.
