Let \(C\) be a coalgebra over a field \(K\), and let \(C=\bigoplus_{j\in I}E(j)\) be a decomposition of \(C\) as a direct sum of indecomposable injective left \(C\)-comodules. \(C\) is called Hom-computable if \(\dim_K\Hom_C(E(j),E(i))\) is finite for any \(i,j\in I\), and a finite dimensional left \(C\)-comodule \(M\) is called computable if \(\dim_K\Hom_C(M,E(i))\) is finite for any \(i\in I\). Basic properties of Hom-computable coalgebras and computable comodules are given. Left Euler coalgebras are defined and studied by using an Euler integral bilinear form, an Euler characteristic and an Euler defect. A characterization of hereditary basic Euler coalgebras \(C\) is given in terms of the left Gabriel valued quiver of \(C\). Coalgebras that have all finitely copresented left comodules directing are studied.
