The authors present an analysis of the \(\Gamma\)-convergence of gradient systems in Hilbert spaces; the systems considered involve an entropy or energy functional, and a quadratic dissipation potential. They derive the rigorous homogenization limit of Cahn-Hilliard-type equations by applying variational inequalities and the so-called energy-dissipation principle. In particular, \(\Gamma\)-convergence is established for the related energy and dissipation functionals.
