A Cauchy problem for the wave equation with time dependent propagation speed \(a(t)\) -- positive and uniformly bounded function -- is considered. One studies the relation between the differentiability and stabilization properties of \(a(t)\) and the behaviour of the total energy \(E(t)\) of the solution to the Cauchy problem. Previous results on this subject are analysed and one shows sufficient conditions under which certain uniform estimates on energy \(E(t)\) hold.
