The purpose of this paper is to establish a link between simple Lie algebras with gradation by finite root systems as defined by Berman and Moody and the notion of \(C\)-admissible subalgebra introduced by Rubenthaler. After some preparations, the authors establish the equivalence between simple algebras with gradation by finite root systems which verify an irreducibility condition for some representations coming from the gradation and Lie algebras containing a \(C\)-admissible subalgebras. This allows a complete classification of these graded Lie algebras. Then it is proved as a corollary that the split algebra associated to the gradation is equal to its double commutant. Next, she studies the case of simple Lie algebras with gradation by a simply laced root system and the general case without the irreducibility condition used in the preceding section. Then the full classification of all simple Lie algebras with gradation by finite root systems is obtained.
