The authors investigate edge-to-edge tilings of the 2-dimensional sphere by twelve geometrically congruent pentagonal tiles. After considering combinatorially congruent tiles, where edge lengths and angles are ignored, they study the cases where all tiles have the same edge length combination and arrangement. Then, they analyse the cases such that all the tiles have the same angle combination and arrangement. The classification of the spherical tilings in five classes, which require the edges of the tiles to be great arcs, is obtained by combining the results on the analysis of edge congruent and angle congruent tiles.
