The classical transvectants play an important role in the invariant theory of binary forms. They are bilinear invariant differential operators and realize tensor product decompositions of finite dimensional representations of SL\((2,\mathbb C)\) on complex polynomials in one variable. Now let \(G\) be a semisimple Lie group, \(D=G/K\) a bounded Hermitian symmetric domain and \(\mathfrak{H}_\nu\) the weighted Bergman space of holomorphic functions on \(D\), \(\nu\) in the Berezin-Wallach set. In a former paper [J. Funct. Anal. 210, No. 1, 171--192 (2004; Zbl 1050.22020)] \textit{L. Peng} and the author used \(G\)-invariant intertwining bilinear differential operators to describe the irreducible components of the \(G\)-action on tensor products \(\mathfrak{H}_\mu\bigotimes\mathfrak{H}_\nu\), see also \textit{J. Peetre} [Rocky Mt. J. Math. 24, No.3, 1065--1085 (1994; Zbl 0815.30011)]. In the paper under review, the author gives a new description of these differential operators (transvectants) in terms of the covariant differentiation on Hermitian vector bundles on the Kähler manifold \(D\) with respect to the Bergman metric. It is shown that the transvectants can be represented as combinatorial sums of covariant differentiations.
