Let \(G\) be a reductive algebraic group over an algebraically closed field \(k\) of positive characteristic. A homogeneous space \(G/H\) is called spherical if there exists a Borel subgroup of \(G\) acting on \(G/H\) with an open orbit. For instance, the group \(G\) itself is as a spherical homogeneous space under the action of \(G\times G\). Given a second reductive algebraic group \(\mathcal G\) over \(k\), the paper under review studies some geometrical property of the embeddings of a special class of spherical homogeneous spaces \(\mathcal G / \mathcal H\), namely those which are obtained from the group \(G\) by parabolic induction in the following sense: there exists a parabolic subgroup \(\mathcal P \subset \mathcal G\) such that \(\mathcal H \subset \mathcal P\) and \(\mathcal P / \mathcal H \simeq G \times G/ \mathrm{diag}(G)\). In this construction, one may expect that many properties of the normal \(G \times G\)-equivariant embeddings of \(G\) carry over to the normal \(\mathcal G\)-equivariant embeddings of \(\mathcal G/\mathcal H\). Let \(\mathcal B \subset \mathcal G\) be a Borel subgroup and denote \(\mathcal B^-\) the opposite Borel subgroup. Among the equivariant embeddings of \(\mathcal G/ \mathcal H\), a relevant class is that of the toroidal embeddings, namely those normal embeddings \(X\) with the property that every \(\mathcal B\)-stable prime divisor of \(X\) which contains a \(\mathcal G\)-orbit is \(\mathcal G\)-stable. In the main result of the paper, the author shows that every normal \(\mathcal G\)-equivariant embedding of \(\mathcal G/\mathcal H\) has an equivariant rational resolution by a toroidal embedding that is \(\mathcal B\)-canonically Frobenius split compatible with all the \(\mathcal G\)-orbit closures, with the \(\mathcal B\)-stable prime divisors and with the \(\mathcal B^-\)-stable prime divisors. In the case of a normal \(G\times G\)-embedding of \(G\) this result was proved by \textit{A. Rittatore} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 131, No. 3, 675-684 (2003; Zbl 1071.14518)].
