A bijection \(\theta\) on a finite group \(G\) is a `complete mapping' if \(g\mapsto g\theta(g)\) is also a bijection. Hall and Paige have shown that if \(G\) has a nontrivial cyclic Sylow 2-subgroup then \(G\) has no complete mappings, and the converse is conjectured to be true. In this note, the conjecture is verified for the groups \(\text{SL}(2,q)\) with \(q\equiv 3\bmod 4\), thus extending known results for other values of \(q\).
