For a sequence \(\mathbf{a}=\left\{ a_{i}\right\} _{i=1}^{\infty }\) of positive real numbers, consider the sequence of power means, with terms defined by \(M_{n}^{[r]}(\mathbf{a})=\left( \frac{1}{n} \sum_{i=1}^{n}a_{i}^{r}\right) ^{1/r}\), for \(r\neq 0\), while \(M_{n}^{[0]}( \mathbf{a})=\sqrt[n]{\prod_{i=1}^{n}a_{i}}\). The authors prove that if \( \mathbf{a}\)\ is an increasing, logarithmically concave sequence, such that for any \(i>1\;, \left( a_{i+1}/a_{i}\right) ^{i}\geq \left( a_{i}/a_{i-1}\right) ^{i-1},\) then for every positive number \(r\) , the sequence \(\left\{ M_{n}^{[r]}(\mathbf{a})/M_{n}^{[0]}(\mathbf{a})\right\} _{n=1}^{\infty }\) is also increasing\(.\) For instance, this is valid for \( a_{i}=i, i\in \mathbb{N}\) , giving Martins's inequality.
