The authors study the relations between entropy and the topological pressure of the function \(\varphi ^u (x) = - \log |\text{Jac}\; df_x|_ {E^u_x} | \) for \(C^{1 + \epsilon}\) diffeomorphisms \(f\) possesing hyperbolic invariant probability measures. They consider compact locally maximal invariant sets \(\Lambda\) supporting a hyperbolic probability. They prove that the supremum of the pressures \(P_{f|K}(\varphi ^u)\) taken over all compact \(f\)-invariant subsets \(K \subset \Lambda\), equals the supremum over the ergodic hyperbolic measures \(\nu\) of \(f|_{\Lambda}\), of \(h_{\nu} (f) + \int _{\Lambda} \varphi ^u \, d \nu\). They prove other relations if besides every \(f\)-invariant probability supported on \(\Lambda\) has possitive Lyapunov exponents. Finally, in the case of surface diffeomorphisms, the authors generalize some of their previous results to a slightly weaker hypothesis than non-uniform hyperbolicity.
