The paper is devoted to questions of spherical spectral synthesis in Damek-Ricci spaces. The main result of the paper (Theorem 1.4) carries over the classical Schwartz theorem on spectral synthesis on the real line to radial functions in Damek-Ricci spaces. As an application, analogues of the well known two-radii theorems of Zalcman and Delsarte are proved. The bibliography in the paper is very incomplete. The authors do not cite significant recent works (see, for example, \textit{L. Zalcman} [Supplementary bibliography to ''A bibliographic survey of the Pompeiu problem. Radon transforms and tomography. 2000 AMS-IMS-SIAM joint summer research conference, South Hadley, MA, USA, June 18--22, 2000. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS). Contemp. Math. 278, 69--74 (2001; Zbl 1129.26300)] and \textit{V. V. Volchkov} [Integral Geometry and Convolution Equations. Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers (2003; Zbl 1043.53003)]). More modern results can be found in [\textit{V. V. Volchkov} and \textit{Vit. V. Volchkov}, Harmonic Analysis of Mean Periodic Functions on Symmetric Spaces and the Heisenberg Group. Springer Monographs in Mathematics. Berlin: Springer. (2009; Zbl 1192.43007)].
