    The author provides new estimates on the maximal function associated to the linear Schrödinger equation. In dimension \(n\geq 3\) it is shown that the almost everywhere convergence property as \(t\to 0\) holds for \(e^{it\Delta}f\) provided \(f\in H^s(\mathbb R^n)\), \(s>\frac{1}{2}-\frac{1}{4n}\). In dimension \(n\geq 4\) the authors prove that the condition \(s\geq \frac{1}{2}-\frac{1}{n}\) is also necessary.
