The convergence of iterates of the univariate Bernstein operator \(B_n\) was studied by R. P. Kelisky and T. J. Rivlin in 1967. The same problem for iterated Boolean sums of \(B_n\) was studied by C. A. Micchelli in 1973 and by G. Mastroianni and M. R. Occorsio in 1977. \textit{G. Mastroianni} ad \textit{M. R. Occorsio} [Math., Rev. Anal. Numér. Théor. Approximation Anal. Numér. Théor. Approximation 16, 55-63 (1987; Zbl 0621.41017)] and \textit{J. C. Sevy} [J. Approximation Theory 80, No. 2, 267-271 (1995; Zbl 0823.41022)] found that the limit of iterated Boolean sums of \(B_n\) is the Lagrange operator with respect to the nodes \(i/n\), \(i=0,1, \dots, n\). The author generalizes the above results and gives estimates of the rate of convergence. The general results are then applied to Schoenberg type and Sablonnière operators as well as tensor product Schoenberg type operators, Bernstein and Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators over triangles.
